What You Should Really Ask Your Search Firm in 2016Many people hire a marketing firm because their website ranking on the first few pages of Google is pretty much essential to increasing traffic, sales and conversions. The problem is that everyone wants to rank on page 1, so the competition is fierce.
This is why many companies hire an online marketing services firm, to continually give them up to date information, advice and help on how to rank in the serps. It’s not that easy to find a really good firm however, as too many people are jumping on this bandwagon and setting themselves up as digital marketing experts. So here are 3 questions you should ask a web site consultant in Australia, before you hire them: 1. Do you guarantee a first page ranking? If the answer to this – YES OF COURSE! Then it might be best to end the conversation right there and look for someone else. Anyone who understands search and online digital marketing knows that you cannot guarantee anything, let alone page 1 rankings. If they do say this, then they might rank you on page 1, but for a keyword that no one is searching for – and that is really easy to do! 2. What's your specific plans for improving my results? If a consultancy or web site marketing firm is above board and only use white hat methods, then they will have no problem chatting with you and sharing their ideas for increasing your content rankings. Talk to them about on-page and off-page results and if they are not happy to tell you how they will improve your rankings, then beware, because there are plenty of black hat strategies that will sink your web site (and they won’t tell you about those). 3. Will you train me how to do my own SEO along the way? The absolute best way for an consultancy or online marketing services firm to work is to act as a trainer, giving you advice and showing you how to optimise your own web site to rank in the serps. Having someone on board, who you can turn to for advice and who can show you the ropes is a huge bonus and much better than handing it all over to someone else – because what happens if they pull the plug? |
Consultancy vs Outsourcing in AustraliaThe big difference is in the value that you get for your dollar.
When you simply outsource, to either a professional services provider or a freelancer you are immediately going to get less bang for your buck. The reason is simple - profitability and results. If you wanted to buy an Apple - where would you get the best price. From the farmer direct or from the supermarket? The answer is obvious and it applies just as much in the digital world as it does the real world. When it comes to search engine optimisation services, the difference is the same. Outsourcing your campaign still gives you results, but you will pay much more for them had you sourced the work directly through a consultant where no middle man is earning a profit of your work. 5 reasons why you are not ranking on page 1In 2016, Google has changed a lot!
There are lots of reasons why a web site will rank poorly in the serps and even more reasons why they are not on page 1 of Google. After all, with more than 2 billion active websites on the planet, it is more than understandable that they can’t all be on page 1. Even more enlightening is the fact that after you have removed all of the paid ad slots above the fold on Google, you only have about 10 or so slots left for website links and with so many websites, the competition for these slots is fierce. So if your mind is already set on ranking on page 1 of Google, here are 5 reasons why you aren’t there yet: 1. Your content niche is too competitive: If you have decided to create an ecommerce site to sell cameras, then you have just about zero and zip chance of ranking on page 1 in the serps. Some niches are just too competitive, with the big guns already solidly holding on to their page 1 rankings. SOLUTION: Find a less competitive niche or a micro niche within the larger niche you are trying to enter. 2. You aren’t focusing on the right content keywords: If you have found a niche that is not too competitive, then the next problem is your choice of keywords. Just because the niche is not fiercely competitive, doesn’t mean that you can easily rank for highly competitive keywords. SOLUTION: Go for broad or long tail keywords and start building traction this way with the right content. 3. Your on-page content SEO sucks: There is no easy way to say this, but if you haven’t optimised your website for the search engines, you had better have deep pockets because you are in the land of PPC services and paid ads. SOLUTION: Get some serious search engine optimisation work! 4. Your site content is too slow to load: Consumers today want information at their fingertips and they like sites that load quickly. So if your site takes 6 seconds to load, no wonder you aren’t ranking on page 1, in fact you will be lucky to rank in the top 10 pages of the serps. SOLUTION: Engage a developer to sort out your site’s loading times and optimise the content. 5. You have a lot of duplicate content: This is so easy to do and tends to creep up on you. E-commerce sites are particularly prone to duplicate content and so are sites that create multiple geo location pages and don’t rewrite the content for each one. SOLUTION: Remove or rewrite all of your duplicate content or if you MUST have it – turn it into an image because search engines can’t read images. Cornerstone Pages and KeywordsOur methodology focuses on the theory of creating special cornerstone pages on a website that have a very specific long tail keyword associated to them.
Then, through on-page and off-page optimisation, link building, social media and blogging, we create in-bound content to these pages. It's really simple in terms of defining it - it's not rocket science. However the practice of it can be somewhat tricky and that's where our fully trained consultants come into play. No ContractsWe never, ever, ask a client to sign a contract.
Would YOU sign a contract from your local coffee shop and pay in advance for a coffee a day for the rest of the year? We didn't think so. At The SEO Shop, we believe that any provider who forces you into a contract is doing so for their own benefit and most likely because they don't feel that they can get you some good results to keep you. Let's face it - if our system works and you get more business, why would you need a contract with us? Surely - you'd be throwing your business our way? Well this is exactly how we operate with our clients - all of them are willing to work with us because of the results and none of them are under contract. |
